I can't seem to find this answer, here or on the WCPSS. we are moving from FL, have 2 kids who are starting probably at Carpenter Elementary (unless we get into a magnet) this year. We'll be moving into our house in late july/early august (God willing and the creek don't rise). So....when does school "start" in the year round system? I realize there are 4 tracks and we'll get one of them, but do I assume the 1st day of 3rd grade is the track in September? July? I know this should not confuse me but it does! Will they be starting behind their peers if they start in the September track?
depends on your track, I would guess. Youngsville elementary stats in July, but it only HAS one track. You would have to find out what track you are on I think, and that determines the date (from what I understand of tracked schools)
This is correct. Year round school starts in July. If you're Tracks 1-3, you start immediately after the July 4 week break. Track 1 is the only one that actually goes for 9 weeks straight after starting (since they were just tracked out in June). Track 3 goes for 3 weeks and then tracks out. Track 2 goes for 6 weeks, and then tracks out. If you're Track 4, you start at the end of July and go for 9 weeks before you track out.
I've found that sometimes it's easier to view the track-in calendar, vs. the track-out calendar. This shows when school actually starts.

Reason: Edited to add the track in calendar
