My husband and I are currently under contract for a home in Forest Springs subdivision. After our offer was accepted we realized there is a active landfill behind the neighborhood and a vulture issue (obviously). Anyone with information regarding this neighborhood and or issue would be greatly appreciated.

Are you still in due diligence? If so and living next to a landfill bothers you, then get out.

I'd recommend checking satellite imagery before considering any place - I know it's hard with real estate moving as quickly as it is, but you can get a good sense for what's around. If you see open land abutting, find out what it is, and assume that it will be developed soon.

I'm also really surprised that your real estate agent didn't mention this?

Wow - your realtor sucks. Stating the obvious I know.

Search "holly springs landfill" on this forum and several threads will come up. From my brief readings the smell isn't very noticeable, but of course that can change. Some people also believe living near a landfill can cause health issues.

Oh it smells from time to time over by the movie theater and it's not like I love at the movie theater. I would look for a place on the east side of 55, the west side is a nightmare of traffic and development.

A lot of people are buying over that way. Easy to get to the shopping center and tons of restaurants. Easy to get to 540 which takes you all over. Great schools. Traffic problems in that little neighborhood may be a thing of the past since the 540 exit onto Veridea Pkwy has been completed.

Look at the seller's disclosure. Did you read it and sign it? Was it disclosed?

Lots of complaints lately about stench from the dump by residents of 12 Oaks and Forest Springs. I believe there is also a water treatment plant in that vacinity, too.
