Carpenter Village and vicinity, how often do planes fly over? (neighborhood, live)

What is the frequency of planes flying over? Is it getting worse with time?

I am coming from Long Island, NY and wanting to get away from JFK planes every 1-2 minutes, 80% of the week.

It will depend on where you were on LI, it got really bad where we were once the flight paths were changed. I think this becomes very individual in terms of what is too much or too loud for you. My suggestion to you would be to spend some time in Carpenter Village at different times of day and see if you can tolerate it.

We have lived in Carpenter Village for fifteen years. I would say that while we are inside the house, the planes are rarely noticed. On cloudy days we can hear them, but it's no big deal. When it isn't cloudy, I don't notice them at all while inside. Outside, you will have to stop talking to your neighbor for five seconds once or twice during a long conversation. The planes come over in spurts so they aren't overhead at all for a HUGE amount of the day and night then you'll get fifteen in a row....then nothing for hours.

Ditto what Alicia said. I gladly accept the slight inconvenience when I'm outside sitting on. Y patio or walking the trails for all the advantages the neighborhood has to offer

It's not close to the changes that were wrought with the JFK flight plan changes, but that doesn't mean it won't change in the future just like it did on Long Island. In fact, when we moved here we never saw or heard planes (I'm a bit southwest of CV) and now we are hearing them several times a week. For that reason alone, I would not consider anything under the current noise disclosure because I have no doubt we are heading in the same direction as JFK/Long Island. CV is WAY closer to RDU than most of the places on LI that have been dealing with this issue are to JFK.

If someone was 5 miles from JFK would they have heard planes? I'm about that far south of RDU, and it's so rare that I hear any that I get worried if I do.

People 10-15-20 miles from JFK are hearing planes and practically able to wave to the people on board since about 8 years ago.
