Can anyone tell me any smaller cities in the area that have a historic district that is really beautiful? I think I have read that Wake Forest has one if I am not mistaken. Any others?

I must have missed downtown Apex when I was there last summer. I drove down there from Cary. Maybe I was expecting something more along the lines of what WF or Hillsborough look like?

Good choices so far. I would also add Pittsboro.

I love Pittsboro also and if you go to visit eat at that little soda fountain downtown. Sorry forgot the name but have been there several times.
