Default Having a hard time finding a Cary rental...

I've been looking for a home to rent for weeks and keep striking out. Either I call and the home has just been rented, they won't allow dogs or our move-in date of April 1 is not available (But there is a lot for May 1)... and there isn't a huge selection to start with.

I've gone outside of Cary into Morrisville and Apex... but I'd really rather stay in Cary.

I've been using realtor.com and craigslist... any other suggestions?

Any ideas why this has been so hard? We're so excited to get there...

Thanks!

There's a website called HomeTownRent that I have found useful. Their page for Cary (CaryRent) currently shows 56 properties available for rent.

ME43 is on a distinguished road
I have seen a website for an agency who is named "Block & Associates" (I THINK that's the name) I've checked out this sight a few tiems and they seem to have a fair number of listings for houses/townhouses in the areas you mentioned. I don't have a link but you could search by the name?

Thanks so much for the info!

I checked out both websites mentioned and most of them are not what we are looking for... or they are already rented.

I'm thinking I'm being too picky ? Maybe I should just close my eyes and pick one

Petunia, exactly what are you looking for? There are many houses for rent on CL and many other websites.

We're looking for the following:

1. A single family home in Cary, Morrisville or North Apex
2. Allows dogs (in our case, a 70 lb very nice golden retriever)
3. A fenced-in yard
4. At least 2000 square feet and at least 4 bedrooms or 3 bed w/ an office
5. under $1550 per month
6. We're looking for something on the newer side... last decade or so

That is picky, isn't it?

Might find an owner really wanting to sell but forced to rent temporarily.

If you don't succeed, might look for a 3 BR apt. Many communities are OK with your dog. Golden retrievers are sweet and we love our neighbor's dog. We call him McGruff the crime dog since he only barks at suspicious persons in the complex.

I'm surprised, and sorry for your misfortune. There have been a few homes for rent here in Carpenter Village, off Morrisville Carpenter Road. This is a kid-friendly, dog-oriented area. I know of one house over on the greenway, on Potomac Grove, that has had a golden retriever in the family before, but I do not think the rent is $1500.

Check out Block and Associates at nchomerentals.com

The Olde Townes at Carpenter Village is a nice apartment complex, here, too, and in your price range. The 3-bedroom town homes have attached two-car garages, and will allow pets. There is a nice area inside the complex to walk a dog, and a playground for little ones. It is safe and quiet. It may be just a bit smaller than what you are looking for, but it may provide you the opportunity/time to look around more.

Yay! I am excited for you, Petunia16! Welcome to Cary! Did you end up going with a private landlord or is it through a management firm? And curious as to whether you found it particularly challenging with the dog?
