I'm looking to move to the area, establish a band, and perform some music. Style is high-energy/upbeat/dance funk/rock with a jazz twist. This style is usually highly marketable. I also play drums and vocals which are two highly marketable instruments. I have all the tools I just need to find out where the best music scene is in the triangle area. I'd ideally like to book a couple gigs a week for cash. I have a lot of musical equipment and am trying to get back some of the $ I paid for it while providing some qualtiy entertainment.

I've heard good things about the Raleigh area. Does it have a good music scene? What style of music is popular in your area of the triangle? Thanks.

The music scene I'm familiar with here is more indie stuff, alt-country, bluegrass. Not sure where you can find high-energy/upbeat/dance funk/rock with a jazz twist (maybe there's a hole here you can fill). Anyway, check out the local free paper with all the music listings here: Independent Weekly You can place a personal to try to connect with other musicians, check out the listings and the venues. Have you tried craigslist?
