Direct hit on Wilmington NC as of this morning's models. :-( Good thing we are still over a week out and things should change.

Does Raleigh/Durham also get affected if Wilmington gets hit ?

It depends on a lot of factors. We could take a direct hit ala Fran or it could curve back out to sea or go up the coast. That's why you need to be following the forecasts on this one.

Yes. There is a new model generating right as I type, seems to be going further south now. Check it out here:

Things could change within hours of where it's supposed to hit, so nobody freak out, but keep an eye on it.

One late model Alan Huffman tweeted has it making a sharp right out to sea. That would be nice for us.

Latest Euro gives it a hard ENE turn off the NC coast and brings it straight out to sea. That would he nice, but presently that is an outlier. Hopefully King Euro is sniffing something out. 2 Recon flights today and 2 tomorrow, better data should be compiling as we speak.

Going to be 2-4 days before we can say with certainty the US will be hit... 5-6 days before we know where... then 12-24 hours before landfall will we know where the eye comes ashore.

Check out this youtube channel. Run by a guy called Mark Sudduth who is based out of Wilmington. He cuts through all the hype and gives you the facts. Whenever there is a hurricane he goes there and sets up webcams. Check out his stuff for Harvey, Matthew, Katrina, and many more hurricanes. Chelc his twitter page out, he has a lot of followers. He also has an app and a webpage.

Here is his latest update!

It seems to be becoming less and less likely that it won't make US landfall. The question is where - could be anywhere from Miami up to NC.
