Default Relocating to CLAYTON/SMITHFIELD Area - Closing end of March.

Well, we finally found the "perfect" house and are scheduled to close at the end of the month. We will be located just east of Clayton.

Any good recommendations for Restaurants? I am especially interested in finding good BBQ, Italian, Mexican and Asian.

Where is the closest Scrapbooking store (other than Michael's & Archiver's).

Pam

I do not live in Clayton, NC however, my husband and I looked into the area a few times. I found a nice hometown diner that was run by some locals that we loved. I can not remember the name of it but it is located along rt 70 in Clayton. When you are coming from Smithfield you would drive all the way into Clayton, I believe it is near a Taco Bell and is located on the left side coming from Smithfield. Nice diner, pleasant folks and good southern food.

Welcome!

BBQ: I dont stray far from Smithfields bbq, its on hwy 70 in Clayton (there might be one in Smithfield too, I'm not sure)

Italian: There's two that I favor! Venero's on hwy 70 and the new one, Mulberry on Main. Both are really good!

Mexican: There are a couple of really good ones in Clayton, I recently ate at Fiestejos on Main street (Clayton) and I really liked it. I think they have $.99 margaritas on most days.

Not sure about Asian..someone else might be able to chime in for that one!

There are some really good scrapbook stores in Raleigh. Just do a google search and they will pop up!

Good luck!

Default Congrats

Hi,
Congrats on your move. Food is tough depending where you are from originally.

I am from the north and I have not found ANY Italian food that compares to back home. The pasta dishes are not authentic and the pizza dough some places use is not fresh (My family owns a pizza shop/deli in NJ)

Mexican: there seem to be Mexican restaurants everywhere. People rave about LA Cocina(haven't tried them yet)

Asian: I really like Super china buffet in the Wal mart shopping center in Clayton.

Good Luck,

Gia

The diner is called the "Rockin Comet" we had dinner there one night.....the lady who worked at the hotel we stayed at across the road had previously worked there and told us to try it if ya wanted a nice "souther homestyle" type of meal......she was right....

We had fried green tomatoes, meatloaf, sweet potatoes and a great banana split pie for desert...my son did order the hot dog from there and it was a bright pink color almost looked like it was died in food coloring....(he wouldnt eat it...lol he's 4) is that commom down there? never asked

The diner was referred to as one of those shiny diners like ya got up North....(we're from Long Island) so I thought that was funny.....

Hope that helps....

Hi Pam,
I live in Clayton and there's a great Italian resturant that opened Mulberry on Main, the whole family runs the restuarant the host is the brother-in-law, three of the waitresses are sisters one is the owner. The buses are a niece very cute, and a daughter. The owner cooks along with his brother-in-law a couple of nephews and some daughters also work there and oh yea lets not forget his mom is also there and on occasion his father sings but I heard he went back to Italy for a while. An italian restuarant run by italians how about that. Every time I go it's busy and only opened Thurs thru Sat. get there early for dinner. Their pizza is the best I've tasted since I've moved here 2 1/2 years ago. Oh yea lets not forget about the canolli's and tira-mi-su!
