I like to work on my laptop at night sometimes. It's nice to get out of the house. However, I haven't found any place that stays open past 9:00 pm.

Are there any cafes or restaurants for night owls in or around Raleigh?

I know that there are bar/restaurants that are open late such as Carolina Ale House, but those are not good places to work on a laptop.

I'm looking for someplace quieter -- more like a cafe, coffee shop, diner, or restaurant.

It's probably quieter on nights early in the week

This is unhelpful as it's not open late any more, but I miss when The Third Place was open until at least midnight. Used to be my go-to for working and caffeinating late at night. Now they apparently close at 5pm every day!!

Kinda joking, kinda serious:

They are open, they do have wifi, and they will be quiet in the evenings. (The ambiance may leave a bit to be desired, but that's for you to decide...).

Denny's on Wake Forest Road and Steak And Shake on Capital Blvd. are both open 24 hours. I haven't done it in awhile, but Denny's would let me plug my laptop into an electrical outlet if I was running low on juice.
