I almost never go to the mall anymore but the best for me is Southpoint. It doesn't hurt that I live 5 minutes away. I can't do Crabtree. Getting in and out is too much of a hassle. I know they are planning to make improvements but it will take years and I simply can't be bothered. The only reason I would ever go to Northgate is for FYE, but there is also one over in CTC so I'd rather go there instead. TTC is too far away from me to visit.
I hate outdoor malls in the summer I went to Alamance Crossing in Burlington in July and just getting from the Parking Lot to the Store is so annoying with bugs and the temperature being 100 degrees
Yep. I think the only remnants from the old North Hills Mall from before its transformation are the JC Penny and it's mini parking deck out the bask side. Kane Realty stated recently though that they plan to tear down JC Penny and its deck when the lease expires though in a few years. So the last vestiges of the old mall will soon be gone.
Even crazier...JC Penny at North Hills actually pre-dates the old North Hills Mall. JC Penny was part of a strip shopping center that was located at the corner of Six Forks and Lassiter Mill. When the shopping center was converted to an indoor mall, the mall was appended onto the existing JC Penny.
So JC Penny is not only the only remnant of the old North Hills Mall, but it's also the only remnant of the previous shopping center that was located there.

Ha interesting indeed. I had no idea JCP went that far back in that location. Thanks for the knowledge drop.
Ultimately it really depends on what you're looking for.
As of right now, I think Southpoint is best with the current stores. I'm a housewares junkie though... Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, and Crate & Barrel are my favorites.
Crabtree is good too though, but the parking/traffic tends to annoy me enough to stay away.
Cary Towne is my least favorite because there's not much there (at the moment), but once IKEA moves in across the street, that will change everything. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Cary Towne after that.
Northgate is a cute little area but there's not much to the mall itself. It's a bit out of the way for most people outside of that immediate area because there's no straight shot from anywhere other than north Durham.
None, malls suck! I prefer more open space shopping areas like North Hills. Oh and would like to see more local businesses involved!
