My cousin displaced over two dozen copperheads this year from around my home place on Sunnybrook Rd. They just keep coming

Over two dozen in less than one year? That's pretty impressive. You'll have to name your place "The Copperhead Resort", lol.

That's it. I'm moving to Detroit. Less snakes there.

Lol, If I had the money I'd go somewhere too, but would probably give Detroit a pass. It used to be such a thriving place, so very sad. It's too big for me anyway. The UP, and Traverse City sound neat. Don't know if I could deal with the long, intense winters though. Especially somewhere that had the lake effect snow.

P.S. I enjoyed your sense of humor in your profile. Especially your interests, lol. So your post was probably not entirely serious.

I haven't seen any lately though one did pop into my dog training class recently. It was dispatched. That was not a distraction we needed...

My neighbor and his dog were both bitten the same month, that was unfortunate...

Thank you NorasMom for your input. It's good to hear real life stories from people about those things. Was the dog training class outside, I assume? It must have taken awhile to get everyone, dogs, and people, settled back down again.

And did your neighbor, and his dog get bitten on their property? That's really too bad on all counts. I haven't seen any snakes at all yet, which is fine with me, not complaining, lol.

This didn't happen in NC, but I thought some of you might get a creepy kind of kick out of watching this. The rattlesnake was riding around on top of a desert tortoise.

I think the RS said "You go ahead dear. I've got this covered".

It's in a different place each time and it was in a barn with lots of snake hidey holes. None of us freaked out about it but we were glad we saw it and not the dogs.

The neighbor did get bitten in his yard...dog too. Woods and a creek running through it.

I saw two mating in my own backyard this year, that was the first time I've seen copperheads in my yard, but I have no doubt they're there more often. I have a wooden privacy fence so that probably cuts down on them, but there are gaps under the fence.

Some garter snakes had babies in my old tree stump and that was fine with me, though my dog tried to kill them.

Oh, having the dog training in various places is a great idea. It keeps things fresh for all. It was definitely invigorating this time, lol. Yeah, if the dogs saw it you all would get to see how well the dogs obeyed voice commands. A trial by fire.

Blech! Sounds like perfect snake habitat. But so pretty. Hopefully it's the last time you see them in your yard. But don't get your hopes up.

Garter snakes are good to have in your garden they say. They just startle me when I don't expect them to be there. The Olympic Peninsula of Washington state doesn't have venomous snakes. Unless somebody turn some loose. But we had several garter snakes around our house, and what looked like a Rubber Boa, about 1 ft long with baggy silverish skin. It's some kind of little constrictor. There are tons of big fat slugs to eat that they were welcome to devour as many as possible. Those were as long as my hand. You can't really see how big this one is in the photo, but it's substantial.

That snake looked just like this. Don't know if it was the same kind, or not. It liked to hang out close to the house, and seemed pretty mellow.
