Hello, my inlaw signed the contract with ATT uverse and internet last year and made the first payment on Dec 1st, 2016. Does anyone knows how much to pay for penalty if we want to cancel by the end of Nov 2017? Any recommendation for getting out of penalty if any? Thanks.

Is it a two-year contract? That's a whole year so you should read your contract (if your inlaw can find it) and see what it says about penalties. If you can't find it, I would just go ahead and call them to ask. Sometimes the penalty is horrendous.

If it is just a one year contract, probably better just make that last month payment and quit. Give them plenty of notice - they ask for at least a month usually. At any rate, I'd call and talk to them; I have not enjoyed dealing with ATT but you might get a better service center and get ok service.

A year ago we signed a one year contract, with a two year price guarantee.
Uverse. That is what they were offering.

OP, you might check the details.

Interested to hear about this...I have AT&T at my new house, and I had it at the last two places. It was amazing at the last two places both in terms of service and consistent price, but its been nothing but trouble since moving away from their fiber zone.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm looking at getting in with Spectrum.

I'm not positive, but I believe U-Verse generally comes with a 2-year price guarantee, but the penalty is only applicable if you cancel during the 1st year. You'll have to read the fine print to confirm.

Yes. Penalty is $20 per month for each month you do not keep them in the first year. After that, no penalty.

Spectrum advertised that they would pay you back if you dropped another provider for them. May still be available but they're no better in my opinion.

Hello, you are correct. Since my contract was signed on Dec 01, 2016, I am able to cancel either on Dec 2nd or 3rd without any penalty.
