Unfortunately I can't go with him to look around, but can you help me by giving me an idea where he can look for an apartment in a safe/convenient area? Are there areas he shouldn't look at? Not too expensive?

Just a worried mom here and this is the first time he will be on his own.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Anywhere in Morrisville or Western Cary will be fine.

I used to live at the Camden Westwood apartments in Morrisville, which is at the intersection of Weston Parkway and Chapel Hill Rd. According to Google Maps, it is only 5.3 miles to the center of RDU airport. I'd recommend it. Lots of other apartments in the area to choose from also.

Stay away from any part of Durham. In my book even the "nice" part of Durham is dangerous and either used to be, currently is, or eventually will be a ghetto.

That is a horribly ridiculous & misleading statement. There are many beautiful, safe neighborhoods in Durham.

But let's not allow this thread to be derailed by inflamatory statements.

If he wants to live close to work, Morrisville is definitely the way to go. But if there are other considerations, let us know.

Morrisville is very close to the airport, as is the Brier Creek area of Raleigh (within 10 min commute). He may find Morrisville to be too quiet, whereas Brier Creek has more activities. Both are excellent in terms of commute to the RDU airport.

I ditto the Brier Creek area or anywhere in Morrisville/Western Cary (around Preston). My mother works at the airport and lives in Preston. Her commute is about 10 minutes (but she goes in at 4am).
