You can’t randomly buy land in RTP unless something has changed.
Yeah, the Research Triangle Foundation maintains strict control (via legal covenants and county zoning) over who they sell land to, and for what purposes.
You can’t randomly buy land in RTP unless something has changed. Here is the history (at least the last few) Ownership History - 0435965 I'm wondering what the Triangle Service Center entity is.
As far as people building houses, I take it with a grain of salt. I've heard plenty of people tell me lots of real estate rumors including Apple was a done deal to take Dix Park. People say random crap.
Thanks for sharing. This is only 56 acres and I couldn’t find rest of the 200+ acres as per the news story. What’s more interesting is that looking at the stamps it sold to Acute Investments $5.9M when TRIANGLE SERVICE CENTER paid $9.9M 2016. Unless I’m missing something.

Acute purchased basically all of Lots S-24 (from Fidelity), S-26 (from Triangle Service Center), S-28, S-29, and S-30 (all from RTF), and has been granted open space easements or options for the surrounding green areas.
Hard to imagine who the buyer might be if not Apple. It’s an awful lot of land, and the buyer is jumping through some hoops to hide its identity.
Apple certainly isn’t the only company that could act this way, but I know from experience, what this buyer is doing is exactly the way Apple approaches things and you’d think there would at least be some sort of rumblings if someone else was looking at a move this big in RTP.
Does it have to be Apple to mean the possibility of many jobs on a parcel that large?
I think not.
True. The law firm he is associated with is certainly a well connected one in the area and this guy seems like he is as well. A natural for any company to use for something like this.

Why would you say that? RTP Foundation has owned a whole bunch of land in RTP for years until it was sold to various companies. It’s nothing unusual. I’d have to look around to see just how their taxes are even structured. They may even be tax exempt or get a break on them.

Certainly doesn’t have to be. All I’m saying is that it’s completely consistent with the way Apple operates, and if it’s not Apple, who else might want almost 300 acres here? It’s twice the size of the campus Apple announced for Austin.

Well, it was a rhetorical question.
Maybe it is Apple, hedging on land, with an eye to the future. 300 acres in the heart of the Triangle isn't getting any easier to find, and they sure have the money to hedge with.
