Not sure if I already posted this. But if you are wondering how they decide your car insurance rates, home owners insurance rates ...this is how..

CLUE Reports

It is owned and controlled by Choice Point (There is also A-PLUS but the chances are that your underwriter goes to ChoicePoint).

You get one free report every year in accordance with FACT so use it. (There was an error in mine that I fixed, albeit small)

The CLUE report shows EVERY claim you've even made against your homeowner's insurance and before you'll get insurance for a particular property, your insurance person WILL check this report. This has been going on for years. I've often thought it should be illegal to pay your insurance premiums every year and then once you have a couple of claims, your insurance company can then dump you AND the CLUE report will then be made public to the next insurance company. Another point that I find somewhat annoying is that nowadays, your insurance company checks your credit to determine how much your homeowner's insurance will be.

I agree. The worst part is not just the claims made against the property you are buying but the claims made by that owner. Suppose if the owner who owns multiple properties made some claims on other properties, it could potentially affect the property you are buying even if there was no claim made on it.

Other thing that bugs me is that insurance companies use your credit report to decide your car insurance as well.
