Where can I get one made? All of the kiosks inside Lowes I've seen only do large keys (home/automotive). Anyone have suggestions. The closer to the airport the better.

I'm not sure about a mailbox key, but for my apartment key, I always have to go to Town and Country Hardware because it is a unique size and the big-box home improvement stores don't carry that size. T&C may be able to help you.

Go to the USPS and you will complete a form requesting a key.

You may find they will change the lock and give you keys.
I lost mine at the office and had to pay $25 for a new lock install and three new keys.

And, it was not a quick deal, either.

I remember when I was a kid and would go to an actual locksmith that would grind the keys out. Long gone! Weird that its such a struggle to get a single copy made.

Its not that much of a struggle. Just go to a good hardware store as suggested, and if its legal, they'll be able to make you one. Now if the post office has restrictions on it, then thats a different matter.

I believe you can get a duplicate key only from USPS. I could be wrong, but I heard somewhere that nobody else will touch it.

I'd call your local hardware stores first, and use google for your locksmiths. Busse's Locksmith is still chugging along, and has a walk-in presence at corner of Wake Forest Rd and Whitaker Mill in Raleigh.

Are you talking about a P.0. Box key at the Post Office, or a residential mail box or apartment complex mailbox?

Its a residential mailbox key...they are now mandated by USPS in all new neighborhoods. Central mailboxes.
