I'm considering the south east area of Raleigh particuliary in zip code 27616. In your opinion is this a decent area to purchase property?

I thought that's considered N. Raleigh. SE Raleigh would be 27610 or 27529. I don't live there, but the 27616 are is a nice area. Everything is conveniently located. Once again, I would figure out where you'll be working first. The best advice I can give is to go visit the areas and see what you like.
