Cary has a high median income with a very low unemployment rate. It's no magic. Same for Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, etc.
Notice I said "...one reason...." in response to the call for more cops.
We don't need more cops.
Point taken. That certainly makes things confusing when it comes to those "safest towns in the US" lists.
Definitely. And using my earlier example, Town of Hempstead in NY covers literally every demographic you could think of from flophouses to multi-million dollar mansions and waterfront properties.
I would be curious to see the breakdown of Cary by patrol sector.
Another one in MacArthur Park and one in the Battery (across from St. Michaels) ... apparently Morrisville is having burglaries with same pattern...I know someone on the street in MacArthur Park (short cul de sac) hope it wasn't them.
These towns, demographics-wise, are probably pretty similar to Cary when all combined together.
Not really.
I think you are really cherry picking some small towns. Take Winchester. It has an median home price of over $800K (Cary around $350K), median household income of over $200K (Cary around $110K). And as homogenous as Cary can be, it does have ~8% Black and 8% Hispanic/Latino. Winchester has 0.1% Black population and less than 2% Hispanic/Latino.
Also, I think you'd find the average commute time from those towns to be closer to 30 minutes.
Cary has a much lower crime rate than the national average. Of course there are going to be much smaller towns that you can find that are much lower, but it is generally a pretty safe place to raise a family.
