After being out of dance a few years, my teen wants to get back into it but is worried about not fitting in/being behind. Are there are any studios that have beginner classes for teens?
Ninth Street Dance in Durham has beginner classes for teens and adults (and "children" ages 13 and under). We have never used them but I emailed them with some questions last year and they were very responsive.
Saw them in Holly Springs, too. Check rec centers around your area. They might offer a lower cost alternative than a dance studio, for your teen to ease their way back into it and gauge interest level.
You didn't specify where in the Triangle, but if you are actually in 27612 as your name suggests, there used to be a dance school at the little shopping center of Duraleigh Rd where the branch of the library is, and I know for a fact they had Hip-Hop classes.
