If you have a lot of bags, that's another consideration, as RDU taxi drivers will actually pack your bags into the car, but Uber drivers won't (as they should, not their job)
Uber drivers have always been willing the assist me with my bags (not that I needed it).

So yeah - at 4 in the morning a Taxi is safer.

I tend to agree with this too, but I think the likelihood of not getting a driver at 4AM is VERY low. (but would be a HUGE problem if it happened)

I am a semi-regular Uber user, and I used drive for a short time, way back in the past. There is a hidden (well, I guess not anymore) forum where drivers discuss stuff. 4AM is probably one of the busiest times for them, and best times to start, so I think you'd likely have a driver:

I've literally taken Uber and Lyft in numerous cities around the country at nearly every hour of the day and never had an issue getting a ride.

This is the Triangle, there aren't very many people moving around at that time of day with enough consistency to make it worth an Uber/Lyft driver's time to anticipate being needed. I had an Uber driver give me the layout of how his day goes and after the adult entertainment venues close there isn't any business to be had, apparently.

I am a frequent user of Uber/Lyft in this area. I've never not been able to get a car, and yes I have used it at odd hours like 4am or 5am.

Of course. And even if they don't help me with bags, I tend to tip anyway. I mean I wouldn't tip if there was some horrific experience or I felt my safety had been compromised or something but barring that, I always tip and rate.

I just took a Lyft to RDU at 4:45AM a couple of weeks ago and I was already the guy's fourth ride in the hour he'd been working. First airport run too...he said the others were all heading to early work shifts.

I use Rite Time Taxi (919-255-1155) when I go to the airport. The drivers are always at my house at least 5-10 minutes prior to the pick up time, and the minivans are very clean. They primarily serve business travelers, but I've been using them for years for my one or two leisure trips a year. I guess I might save a few dollars if I used Uber (or parked at the airport) but I don't really see the need to change what works.

I have had no issue getting a LYFT from North Raleigh to RDU at 4:00 am. I have done it several times with no issue or pre-arranging pickup.

At about $6 a day the Fast Park parking with a free shuttle to & from the airport is usually
cheaper than paying for transportation to RDU and from RDU.

Unless the trip is a long one.
