WCPSS is now threatening to cut benefits to teachers. Might be posturing but might just happen.

Go for it!! You'll do extremely well in this area and being that the cost of living is so much cheaper moving by yourself will not be too bad at all. I lived in Durham for 9 years Morrisville for 3 years and Raleigh for 2 and I would say Durham is my favorite in the triangle area. with that being said, you may also want to look into employment in the durham county public schools as well. Durham and Raleigh are really close together. Good luck to you!

Rent a year first to be sure you find the right area. Townhouses can be difficult to sell and you don't want to take a big loss.

I plan on meeting w/a realtor when I go down to visit my friends in a few weeks. Even though my friends aren't too far away, any advice for someone who would be making the move by themself? Easy to meet people, friendly people, don't do it????? I'm a very independent person so being along isn't a problem.
No doubt, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!! You will have many choices of townhomes here. Quality townhomes are very much in demand. The new hot thing here is urban style villages. Basically they are new developments that contain SFH's, condo's & townhomes surrounded by or in the middle of shopping, dining and medical facilities. It makes for a reality convenient lifestyle. It's great! Being a teacher, you will probably land a job in very short order. The school systems here are looking at increasing compensation to teachers to attract more to this area. This is a big family friendly area, so there is always a growing school system.
