I think it was 2005, the same year that the "snowstorm" that dropped a little over half an inch caused that infamous 12 hour gridlock and people had to sleep at work or in their cars on the side of the road!
This is splitting hairs, but I think the storm you are thinking about happened a little earlier in the year. It was the freakiest thing ever. I know people who spent 12..yes twelve hours on Capital Blvd. between I440/Capital to Wake Forest.

When I was in college, we had a beautiful snow in mid march. A few inches.. a beautiful "power" like snow.. the next morning it was gone....

That is the way weather fronts work. Last year Easter was April 8th and the temperature drop really low killing alot of peaches in SC.

It generally like this for the Spring and Autumn with mix weather patterns.
It can be like this til around mid May generally.

Last year I vacation in the Outer Banks in mid May and I was dressed in long pants and a hoodie most of the time due to a front from the north sitting off the ocean. The rate was good though lol.
4 bedroom 3 bath home with hot tub and pool for $525 for seven days.
I should have knew better to wait a week or two just before the summer rates kick in. Actually probably plan in September or October so the is warmer.

Maybe the NC weather is helping those who relocated from the north not get a weather shock when they relocated . .. hehe
Last summer it help those who relocated from Florida or the Bayou.

For the Raleigh area, the latest measurable snow on record was 1.8 inches on April 18, 1983, and the latest trace of snow (that is, snow occurred but the amount was too small to measure) was observed on May 2, 1939. So, it has and can snow in May in Raleigh. Moreover, western parts of North Carolina have had heavy snowfall in May.

Yes, the "storm" I was referring to was in January....I was saying that it was the same year that I remember having snow in mid-March (2005).

I think rain makes the houses look the best in the spring. The flowers are bigger and the grass and foliage is always greener and clean.

Rained almost all day in Wake Forest, anyone know how much the area got? If April showers bring May flowers, what do March showers bring?

I think the RDU airport got about 1.34" from the whole system and roughly 0.75" today.
