Well, I’ve been lurking, posting and researching for a very long time now and finally planning a visit. As many have suggested, I’ve waited until summer to see if I can handle the heat and humidity. Some random questions...

Would the heat/humidity be the same in late July or mid August (I kind of assume so). I’m not planning on doing much tourist type sightseeing but driving around various towns, grocery stores, church, apartments, etc, so I’d be getting in and out of the car a lot.

Thought I’d make Cary my home base, any hotels you would highly recommend. or is there a better area where restaurants are plentiful without me having to drive around at night too far.

Any other suggestions are welcome...thx.

Yep weather will be indistinguishable at those times. Mid June though early September it's pretty much the same weather every day.

Well, my running days are long over but am a big walker! I’m coming from SoCal, the land of just about perfect weather but need/want to move for various reasons...COL, area is too big/way crowded/bad traffic, to enjoy it much any more. Middle class is being forced out. I’m looking toward the future now. I’ve researched many, many areas but always come back to Raleigh as looking like the right fit for me. I’ve learned theres no place in this country that has ideal weather. It can get plenty hot here too but of course no real humidity.
But the older I get, the more my body likes hotter weather.
