Hi everyone,

It will be 3 years this October since our septic tank was pumped by the previous owner. Its probably time to have it inspected to see if it needs to be pumped again. I'd appreciate recommendations. How much would an inspection cost? How much to have it pumped? Thanks guys!

David Brantley and Sons are good. If my memory is correct, it is about $150ish for an inspection and $250 to pump the tank?

You don't need an inspection but pumping the tank is about $250. A good routine is to pump every 3-5 years depending on use. A single person in a 3 bd house could go 10 yrs probably. I never heard of a 'bad' local company.

I used Agriwaste for my inspection when I bought the house.

But you probably don't need an inspection*, just a pump out. My neighbors like Brantley and Sons. And, IIRC, it had to be pumped before they inspected it anyway.

You would only want it inspected if you were concnerned about problems and its replacement. They pump it, fill with water, test for leaks over 24 hours.

Septic tanks that have been installed in the past 20 years or so also have a filter between the collection tank and the liquid tank. You want the filter cleaned annually, at which time they can (and will) check to see if it should be pumped. Many companies will automatically schedule you for this service. I use David Brantley & Sons for my septic system and they have been great. They always show for scheduled maintenance, and are there the next day if there is any unexpected issue (rare, but they do happen).
