Two Buck Chuck and other things Trader Joe's
Okay, so is the NC version of Two-Buck-Chuck ($1.99) or is it really Three-Buck-Chuck ($2.99)?
Also, I'm confused, is there one Trader Joe's store in each Raleigh, Cary and Chapel Hill? Any others?

I think $2-buck-chuck is only a CA thing. I've had it in the bay area but it runs closer to $3 here I believe.

I've bought it in VA for $2. Maybe higher now though?

When it was $1.99, it was referred to as "one-buck Chuck". Now that it's $2.99, it's referred to as "two-buck Chuck". It's never been $.99 to my knowledge.

When the "Two buck chuck" first came out and was all the rage, we ordered a case from someone who was out west for a visit, and it really was pretty good.
I did hear on one of the news progams over the weekend, (can't remember which one - probably 'cause I have too much wine), that North Carolina will soon be the new Napa!!!!
...something for all of us to look forward to.

My only knowledge of "two-buck-chuck" was since the Trader Joe's opened in Cary, and I think it was always $2.99 there. Perhaps this is because of inflation (seems like the prices of everything are inflated, think milk, food, etc. all because of the price of fuel). Still, it is quite a deal.
As far as I know, the Trader Joe's in Cary is the only store currently open in the Triangle where you can buy Charles Shaw wines. I have heard that another TJ's is planned for a shopping center on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh (which is great because it's on the way home from work for me! ).
NC is definitely coming up in the world of wine. Many tobacco farmers are converting their cropland to vineyards now that subsidies to grow tobacky are going the way of the Do Do. There is a wine festival held at Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary called Great Grapes, if I remember correcly, that showcases many NC wineries and is a great time. Currently, many NC wines are sweeter varietals and muscadines (ick), but it seems that the selection continues to grow and has a lot of potential!

There is currently a Trader Joe's in Cary and one in Chapel Hill. The Raleigh one has been announced but is not open (I think it may not open until 2009). According to the TJ's website there are also two locations in Charlotte, and that's it for NC. Welcome to Trader Joe's - Your Neighborhood Grocery Store - Locations
The Charles Shaw wine is $2.99.

Guys, there are MUCH MUCH better wines that can be had at Trader Joe's for an extra $1-2 per bottle. I won't say my favorites in the $4-6 range, as I don't want people to get any ideas about buying them up!

When I was at Trader Joe's in Chapel Hill the other day, I actually heard an employee refer to it as "Three Buck Chuck". Maybe they're hoping the public will catch on?
And yes, as you can see, the Charles Shaw wines are available at the Chapel Hill location in addition to the Cary location.
