I wonder...if you call a Property Management Company (they handle rentals), would they have access to their rental listings and other company's listings? I don't know as I don't work in the rental market. But...That may get you someone that can help you!
Most of the time I find nothing even within 50 miles of my requirements.
...I would figure someone in the business has complete listings of their own to bring in customers.
there is no source locally that has ALL the rentals available, or even 80% of them. For what you're probably seeking (given the "within 50 miles" comment) I'd guess 70% of those landlords do nothing more than put a red and white sign For Rent out front.
I will look into some of these. The thing is on Craigs I have found myself spending more time hiding fakes off the bat, and then ones that look okay to contact and I send an email, end up removed the next day.
I'd rentals are going that quickly (and I'm not surprised), Stop emailing ads on CL. Either use the phone and call them or text. If you're really interested, do both.
It is actually amazing that all these sites have either nothing doable, or ones that are, no one emails/calls back. I keep track of every contact, and no one from Zillow, Craigslist, and a few other sites actually contact me back if I do inquire.
This is why easier to work with a human face to face.
I have until end of January I believe and I even started looking for rooms with private bathrooms to rent so I can at least start saving money for a few months. Got a criteria of places I am willing to stay at, but wow, no one writes back from those either.
Must be my winning personality that pushes humans away.

Yea, I do not do the whole texting thing. Big fingers, tiny device. Can not afford one of them. I use, when needed, a prepaid phone that is actually a phone.
As for using a phone at home, eh, got anxiety with using phones all together. I express easier, less stressful, with emails. I am an introverted antisocialist. Talking to unknown people over the phones is a challenge for me even since the days of rotaries.
Check out Triangle Real Estate Professional - Ashton Bazer | --- he works with a lot of people looking for places to lease. He doesn't charge anything for the process. He is paid by the property you sign the lease with.

Reminds me, I need to call my mother....
Okay. But you need to understand that YOUR 'limitations' are big contributors to your lack of success in finding a new apartment.
Landlords and potential rentals want to communicate QUICKLY. Email is not quick. Text nearly always gets an immediate response. Phone call gets a response, but not as quickly. Emails get ignored. They are getting to be regarded like our USPS junk mail.
Maybe getting someone to help you might be a solution.
ETA. Basic smart phones can be had very cheaply from prepaid cell phone providers or used from CL, etc.

When they don't email or call back, it's usually because the property is no longer available.

Which again shows that quicker reply methods than emails are required. And, since texting has become the preferred method of communication, we have to GRUDGINGLY accept and get on with it.

Not sure who has preferred this method, but not something I can or will be doing. I tried, but this manly fingers too big for even larger keyboard options on these little dinky things. No no. I prefer full size keyboards and mice devices. I am not going to stress myself out over society's methods when I got bigger things to deal with. This is, of course, a whole different topic than this post requires. However, I understand your viewpoint.
