Both say their forecast is "Futurecast" which I'm guessing is a registered product. ABC 11 uses AccuWeather. In addition to this, both show views from local towns that are from the same camera view point.

You answered your own question. Futurecast isn't a WRAL product, it's used all over the place.

Ok, Futurecast is used all over the place, but why are both stations using the same local town view cameras except for the camera at the DBAP?

And I thought WRAL did their own forecast. Is Futurecast their product sold to weather stations all over the place?

Has anyone noticed that the temperatures on WRAL.com are WAY off??? Like 8-10 degrees lower than abc11.com. I noticed this a lot lately, and don't know what to make of it.

this might be part of the answer:
from Greg....
We have four sensor suites on the transmitter tower, at 50, 600, 1200 and 1800 feet above ground level. They are a recent addition, and remain in a provisional/testing mode to this point, so we can't as yet guarantee the accuracy of the data. However, if you'd like to see the numbers, they are available at www.wral.com/weather/page/17505398/.

The cameras are actually put up and owned by the small towns. The TV stations are given access to them to give the towns exposure.

WRAL owns the one at the DBAP and the tower cams, and I think they own the one at Carolina Beach via WILM-TV.

That and a majority of the street-view cameras in this area are owned by the NCDOT and access is granted for similar reasons. There are no weird conspiracies going on here people.

WNCN's weather is way more accurate than WRAL and Wes is great. Y'all should get your weather from him.
