Suggestions, please. . .
Our lawn is pretty sad-looking. It appears we had a mix of bermuda and fescue, so the yard looks fairly ragged -- still brown where the bermuda is, with these odd-looking patches that, for all the world, look like grass an Easter bunny would love for hiding eggs!
I thought about cutting the grass yesterday afternoon, but it's as if about 10% needs it, and the rest doesn't.
I really don't know what to do with it, to be honest. NOT water the fescue, and let it continue to die out, and try to encourage the bermuda? I don't like bermuda at all, but I can't afford to rip it out, and put in zoysia right now, which would be the way I'd like to go. This doesn't appear to be the better-looking bermuda a neighbor put-in last year, or do I need to be doing something differently?
With the recent rain, I have felt encouraged to put in the big beds I have wanted to, since we moved into the house almost two years ago now. I'd much prefer significantly less lawn, and sweeping beds of azaleas -- the huge formosas -- and perennials, and seasonal annuals.

I've mowed my WEEDS twice so far . . . . and they need it again. We just hired a landscape architect to do up a plan for us, so hopefully I'll be able to get out and start fixing up our yard soon. It needs totally redone.

We've done ours twice, and it really needs it again. It would have gotten done this weekend, but we did mulching in the freezing rain and then gave up for the day!

How funny ... I just came in from mowing the lawn &, lo and behold, I stumble upon this thread.
This morning I mowed for the first time this year. I should have done it last weekend, but the rain delayed me. Most of our garden is made up of planting beds - camellias, azaleas, numerous trees - so I honestly have very little lawn to mow. I was done in less than 15 minutes. Gotta love that!

I seeded a new lawn in late November(fesue) and I've mowed it 6 times this year. I probably could and should be mowing every 5 days because I'm chopping to much when I get to my normal Saturday mow time..

Mowed once so far
I mowed a week and a half ago and it needs it again with all our rain. We're in the country in Rougemont, so our grass is a nice amalgam of flowering grasses and regular grass (an HOA wouldn't approve). I managed to shave a rock with the center blade of the midmount mower my first time out on the new tractor. Being diesel, the engine didn't even blink, just ground the rock and the blade down until I could shut off the pto. so now I'll be filing and balancing the center blade this rainy Saturday!

Hubby mowed for the first time today. I love that smell of freshly-mowed grass. I hope this weather holds!

Just sharpened the blades on my mower yesterday. I think it'll be another two weeks before our grass needs its first cut. Need to get the front end loader and PTO rear tiller (for the veggie garden) off the tractor and put the mid mower back on... almost mowing-time! Can't wait.

We just got our mower serviced this week and mowed today after a long break. We actually had to mow over the winter a couple of times this year!
