Maybe if those parents would stop fighting for traditional schools so they could take 2 month trips to India in the summer they could go to the schools with the closest proximity to them. Instead they move into an incredibly busy area and fight against the smart choice for that area and then complain about the logical outcome. West Cary is strapped for school seats. Adjust and get over it.

Greenways are not built so kids can walk to school.

For decades, owners and buyers in Wake County have known their school assignments are not guaranteed.
Decades.
Ignoring that fact and buying a home with desired schools as primary criteria has always been buyer speculation.

There will be no material benefit or change from a court case demanding specific desired school assignments.

This gamble/speculation is why the Triangle MLS allows agents to decline to mention schools as other than "Wake County Public Schools."
As MLS rules require an entry in the Schools fields, that is the only choice other than listing exactly the assigned schools from WCPSS School Assignments.
Any lawsuits will encourage agents to choose only to say "Wake County Public Schools."

I have seen that on MLS listings.

There is a guy who is posting on the wcpss feedback boards who bought a house a few months ago and insists he was told "my new house would always be zoned MP/MP/PCHS"...I shudder to think of the conversations his real estate agent is having right now.

The number of people who are writing on that board "I bought my house because it's zoned for "X" school and I paid a premium and higher taxes for it as well" is actually mind boggling.

I think you're thinking of the one that's going to go through MacArthur Park subdivision.

The one the Cameron Pond people are talking about is going from their neighborhood to Mills Park schools. It will start around Magalloway Drive.

I feel bad if they were given bad advice but every day I deal with people who don't take control of their own lives and do what they need to do to make things run smoothly for themselves. City-data exists for a reason and it's not for you and me to get up early on a Sunday and have something to do

Are you saying ... I can call and offer to buy their house at a 25% discount, since they can't wait to move out of there?

Yeah.
We've seen this before. Talking down their own property values....

He probably needs to have documentation or clam up.

Even WCPSS says, "MP. This school has a cap. Contact the school."
Smart agents refer people to WCPSS site, or administration, and disclaim the permanence of any assignment.
