It was done this way in jest because someone reported the old hurricane thread as not being a "local" problem.

I amended the title. DPK is correct. The first Hurricane thread got reported, as happens sometimes, and it was reported correctly, as the hurricane IS a statewide issue, but this thread as been more about what we think here in the Triangle, so it's stayed.

I figured anyone interested in weather would click on it with a title like that one, but I added a parenthetical reference so it's easier to find.

I wonder if Waffle House here will be open during the storm. There’s reports going out that the locations in Myrtle Beach already closed for the storm, so I think they’re going to get hammered.

Has anyone seen a single D battery for sale in any stores in the Triangle all week? Did people just buy way more than they are going to need, with the intention of returning them after the storm? Even Amazon couldn't deliver them in time.

Robin I got some at Target on capital Blvd but it was slim picking. Call before you go.

I dont think many places stock many C or D cell batteries, there hardly any demand for them.

Thanks. At this point I'm not going to bother going out to try getting any. I'm just curious if a significant number of people out there bought a ton of batteries for themselves, as if preparing for the zombie apocalypse, but plan on returning them for a refund after the storm passes.

I was able to pick some up on Monday at the Wal-Mart here in Sanford, you can decide whether that's in the Triangle or not.

For the Triangle, the time period of strongest winds will likely be around Midnight through 8pm tomorrow. 40-50mph gusts possible, potentially isolated gusts 50-60mph. Winds will stay up through the weekend, but gusts will probably be more in the 30-45mph range.
