All of us. What law of nature, man, or religion says anyone needs even one bedroom? If it isn't a need, isn't it superfluous? Wasteful? Is it not the trapping of a wasteful culture? Strictly rhetorically speaking... I would no more judge a man for embracing the luxury of one bedroom than I would the family that has 8 of them. I accept responsibility for my own waste, and hope that others are comfortable with theirs. I don't answer for them. I don't judge them. |

I covet craftsman bungalows with front porches. I'd be happy with a small one though, even 900 square feet! just NO vinyl siding.

I love those older neighborhoods like Mordecai and Oakwood!
If you really want to drool---we got lost going through Greenwich CT last week. No "McMansions" there. Each and every house is unique. And large. We were hungry so we stopped for a sandwich in Westport ( town next door) and the total for 5 people was $50! I'm sure you can eat lunch in Raleigh, near these homes, for less than that! |

Reply to: TheNiceVoice. We have them all over upstate NY, and NJ. They are called "McMasions." The only problem being is that in Raleigh, they are probably half-the price that they would be inNY/NJ. They are also all over Dallas, Seattle, and California,

OP, I moved to Raleigh from Buffalo for school and couldn't imagine going back to NY. We have similar taste, I love the McMansions. The original photos you posted are excellent.
The weather's fanstastic ( a little hot in summer but better than 7 months of snow and gray skies) The location is incredible: Two great metro areas Charlotte and Raleigh, the beach is an easy relaxing 1.5 hour drive, the mountains are also a short drive. The people are signifcantly more friendly, in my experience Plenty of great golf and lakes for boating The culture is there, thanks to DUKE, UNC, and NC state's diverse student body Raleigh has a very high population of people who have graduate and doctoral degrees Great place to live, work, and play...Good luck! |
