....so as you probably can imagine, when I found this forum...moreso this THREAD, I was THRILLED.
I'm currently in NYC...and I want to move to Raleigh so badly until I submitted a letter to my employer asking if I can "take my job with me". Unfortunately, with my line of work, I would never be able to survive in Raleigh without bringing my salary with me.
I came to the area for a visit about 2 weeks ago - - -and the Parade of Homes just 'HAPPENED' to be happening. I was THRILLED! Unfortunately, I can't remember which homes are located where . . .but I can tell you that ALL OF THESE HOMES are in Raleigh.
Your photos are just part of the reason we fell in love with the Greater Raleigh area. We first visited in July '05 and have subsequently made an additional 3 trips out. Our dear friends made the move last Summer. We may be making ours this Summer. Thanks for reminding me of the ''flavor'' of some of the homes there (albeit, out of our price range!).
If you want something like those pictures, you do need a bunch of cash.
We once lived in Manhattan and made do in Raleigh for 20 years with a lot less salary. Of course, we live modestly in a very nice flat near Triangle Town Center.
You can make less and live well here, just not that well.
This looks like the building/development going on around Regency -- near the Koka Booth Amphitheater? If so, the surrounding neighborhoods have been there for what appears to be a much longer time. Darned if there isn't a street called -- believe it or not -- Avenue of the Estates.
I'd be too embarrassed to live on that particular street. Can you imagine mailing out New Home announcements?
My fiance likes those McMansions. I think they are too big and very boring. I am not a fan of planned subdivisions with 5 models of houses. I am very fond of quirky neighborhoods.
