Why would UNC or Duke consider NC State a rival? In football yes. NC State basketball isn't close to their level.

Y'all must not have been around during Valvano's heyday. That's when there was a real Carolina-State-Duke rivalry. Boy I miss that!

State goes up and down. They're a legit rival of UNC and Duke some years; others they're ACC bottom-feeders. Carolina and Duke have been a lot more consistent. UNC slipped some under Matt Doherty but turned around with Roy Williams and won the national championship (2005). Duke hasn't missed the NCAAs since 1995 when Mike Krzyzewski was out for most of the year (sort of like Lute Olson at Arizona this year). State's latest slump came in the later Herb Sendek years and it's a funk the Wolfpack are still trying to claw their way out of. But don't think for a minute they've never given the Heels or the Devils a game...

Thank God Derrick Whittenburg shot an airball when and where he did, huh?

State, for the most part, owns Carolina and Duke in football.

Duke is often one of the worst teams from a BCS conference in the country.

WOW coach Williams looked good with the Jay hawk sticker on in last nights game. What a game it was. Hated to see either team lose that one. IMO best final game in a long time.

Duke football has lost to a good amount of 1-AA teams this decade. I think they got blown out by Richmond like 2 years ago?

Wasn't it Appalachian State that beat Michigan this year?
