I'm going to be succumbing to the siren song of new TVs after Christmas and retiring my 2004 Sony 40" LCD set, which has served me well. It works fine, but it is an older set so it's about 5" deep at the widest point. Does anyone know if GCF or TROSA would accept these as donations? I know there's nothing you can do with tube TVs but take them to electronics recycling, but this TV still has a lot of life in it yet. It's just not optimal for today's gadgets.

Pretty sure Goodwill will take it. Probably Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity as well.

Check with charities that provide transitional housing, as they may be able to use the TV. I was involved with Passage Home some time ago, but there are others as well.

Habitat takes flat panel TVs, as do most Goodwill organizations. Dorcas does too, but only 2006 and newer.

Most of the organizations accept flat screens. It’s the old tube style TVs that they won’t accept.

The TV is an LCD flatscreen, not a tube TV. It's just an older one, so it's not thin like the new ones. That is why I say it is 5" deep at the widest point.
