Kind of contradictory, and hard to find at $500k. Sounds like a unicorn hunt.

Have you looked north of 98 or even 85 in NE Durham? Those seem closer proximity to RTP/RDU that Pittsboro.

I will add that to the list. I truly love Durham's downtown. I think Durham would likely be more resale than land from what I can tell which is ok. We are taking our time to make the right call of course. thx for the recommendation.

Northern Durham and Durham County might have what you want.

Hillsborough is great. I think you would really like it. Traffic is heavy from Pittsboro to RTP and Chapel Hill and I think it will be getting worse with Chatham Park. There is more growth around there than in Hillsborough although Hillsborough is growing too.

I really wanted more info on the towns themselves. 30 mins to RDU/RTP under an hour to WF if possible to keep our friendships going. really looking for some info on pittsboro and hillsborough and what life is like there. Do many people do the commute to rtp or is it more of work from home. How is it for people without families because WF is wonderful but very family orientated which can be isolating if you do not have children.
and i do love unicorns lol.

In my looking I think Pittsboro could end up being much like Chapel Hill in terms of size/growth especially w Chatham Park. I wonder where people see Hillsborough heading. If anyone lives in the towns can you tell me what you like/dislike. I love the co-ops and farmers markets and yoga studios and of course the beauty of the rivers haw and eno, etc. thx
Hillsborough is a little more "connected" than Pittsboro is...for now. Pittsboro is more primed for growth with Chatham Park.

Right now...it's quicker to get to Downtown Durham, Chapel Hill, and even RTP from Hillsborough than it is from Pittsboro. I don't see that changing for decades if ever.

Again though....for 5+ acres you'd be looking at places with Hillsborough or Pittsboro addresses but not "in-town".

In 10-20 years Pittsboro will probably feel a lot more suburban and be more comparable to Apex/Cary. Hillsborough will probably stay around the same size it is now; growing a little but still being more "Small town" than "suburbia"

We are in North-West Wake county. We have 2.5 acres (which is obv less than you're looking for). We love it here. Probably not as socially liberal as you're looking for, but Wake Forest is 25 minutes and Durham is 25 minutes. Raleigh is more like 40 minutes. Pretty solid location.

Any rural area is likely to be on the less-liberal side.

The more I look at hillsborough the more I like it and the commute mentioned sounds better thank you so much. Totally ok not being in the town limits

Sounds like Hillsborough would be the best all-around fit for sure.

Count me in as another vote for Hillsborough. Just beware that Churton Street becomes a parking lot during rush hour. Ask how I know...

Isn't the Hillsborough -> RTP commute much longer than 30 minutes with traffic?
