Took a tour with our rising kindergartner and liked it. Seemed like a lot of windows and the turtle courtyard was a nice touch.

I was surprised when we heard how old the buildings were. Any guesses on when it might be renovated/replaced and where the kids might go while it's being done?

Construction due to begin in 2023, anticipated occupancy August 2024.

Just a guess, but the new "Apex Friendship" ES will be ready in 2022, perhaps that could be used as a swing space.

Yup that's usually how they do it.

When Davis Drive middle was built, it housed West Cary while that school was renovated.

Green Level is housing Apex while it's rebuilt.

Fuquay HS will be housed at the new Willow Springs HS while it's renovated.

I'm astounded to find out that a brand new elementary cost ~$28MM in 2011 (no land) but a gut remodel costs in the mid-40MM's now.

WCPSS has a "temporary school" in the North Raleigh area. I'm not sure if they have a similar arrangement in the SW part of Wake County

My takeaway from that is that it's not really any cheaper to renovate a school than it is to build a new school from scratch.

That's why they knocked down Apex HS to rebuild it - when all was said and it done it was going to be cheaper. They originally wanted to renovate but with Green Level opening and ready to be used as swing space that's why they are re-building it.

Makes sense.

Is that near the intersection of Woods Creek and Friendship Road?
