It looks like it's AT&T coming. They installed their cable in our neighborhood a couple of years ago, but we haven't signed up. We have Spectrum and when Google arrives, we'll have a choice of three providers. Hope you can take advantage of having a choice.
Typically area of excavation markings are white. Locations of existing utilities are in various colors depending on what they are. Telecom is orange and that looks orange to me. If so, it’s denoting existing utilities. It could mean the AT&T line is 5 feet from the line, though that would be weird too. If you download the NC 811 app, you can look up what locates have been called in near you or by address.

Wow, how did you know that? Are you in the biz?
Thanks for that information! I downloaded the app and I'll do a driveby later to look it up. Since the previous owners are moving out in a month, I doubt they'd have it marked for some reason but I'll see what the app says.
Orange = Communications cable (could be copper or fiber)
Red = Power cable
Blue = Water
Green = Sewer
etc etc ...
That pic looks to me like a "locate" for ATT buried communications utilities ... that could be in preparation for more buried utilities (i.e. Google fiber) or any other digging in the area.
Don’t get too excited we’ve had google and ATT installed
And since then crickets!
Too late for that, I've been jumping out of my skin since March 7th about this move.
Our only option now is Spectrum. It would be nice to get other competitors in the area but this is our "forever home" (sorry Mike I know you hate that term ) so we've got time to wait.
My husband is a web developer and works from home 2 days a week so we want reliable, fast service.

Thanks Frank! I'll see if anyone else has the markings or not.
Drove by today, orange paint on the first 10 feet of every yard for a half mile, and markings on the pavement leading out to the main road. I'm thinking a new install is coming!
They mark the yards before they did. But again....we've had fiber laid here for at least a year, and still no actual service. Google and ATT.
Spectrum business class is good but my company pays for it for me. Don't know how pricey it is.
Congrats on finding a house BTW!
Thank you!
