Will sanctuary counties/cities in the Triangle and North Carolina become permanent and common? What are your thoughts and opinions?

Was Wake previously a sanctuary, or is this what you mean by "a new development"?

Wake became one when the new sheriff was elected recently and decided to not partake in the 287g program anymore.

I am not sure if this will become common here and/or permanent. I really don't think these Sheriff's and counties realize that it is not going to necessarily solve the problem that they say they are trying to solve (not sure if what they say is the truth anyway). I also think that it has become the "politically correct" thing to do right now but as we are already seeing here in NC, ICE's presence will become greater in these communities and like ICE has said there will be additional collateral arrests as they call it.

I'm not going to get into what I think about this matter because I'm sure at some point that is the way this thread will go and will probably be shut down because I'm sure many of us have very strong opinions about this.

I subscribe to the idea that people are, well, people. I make all my decisions accordingly.

Charlotte city council voted to allow illegals onto the council, the next day the council then voted to have police stop their DUI checkpoints focused on illegal enclaves...the police response was "but that was where the majority of DUI related accidents occurred".

Voting has consequences...

Big picture wise I really don't think it matters too much. California will get most of the new "immigrants" due to their famous status, social programs, and large Latino population.

Newly elected Democrat Sheriff Gerald Baker ended ICE cooperation 287g program. Original link in post showed wake as a Sanctuary city.
