In other news today, RISE Biscuits and Donuts unveiled a slight rebranding that would shift its focus from Donuts and Biscuits to ‘Righteous Chicken’ and Southern Biscuits. There will be a reduced focus on Donuts and other sweets in the store.

Interesting. We were in Nashville 3 weeks ago and there was a Rise downstairs from our hotel that had chicken and biscuits. We were wondering if that was just because chicken was such a thing in Nashville or what. They have been scaling back donuts already in the Morrisville location, getting rid of the a Old Fashioned and other cake type donuts months ago. Kind of dumb, but I guess idiots probably perceive fried chicken on a biscuit as substantially better for you than a donut, which it isn’t, but got to cater to the public I guess.

While I would never design a healthy diet centered on fried anything, a piece of fried chicken is a considerably better option than a donut.

I suppose that Rise is struggling to separate in the market from other donut competitors. I don't usually eat donuts, but if I'm going to it's going to be Duck Donuts, not Rise. And if I'm going chicken and waffles, I'm not thinking Rise either, I'm going downtown to Beasley's or maybe Dame's. It's not the sort of thing most people eat regularly and why not go for the best options available when you do decide to indulge?

Donuts was the best part and draw. Now they will just be another Chicken and Biscuit place. Next up, they'll rebrand to Chicken and Waffles. Hey, whatever is the latest craze right?

I would expect that location has a lot to do with it. Duck Donuts and Beasley's are not necessarily convenient for everyone who would like a donut or better quality chicken and biscuits (I didn't read anything about waffles). They don't have to dominate the entire market, but should where they have businesses, if they want to be successful.

Whether they are better quality is to be determined. I'm not an advocate of their biscuits.

Pretty much.

Sure, there’s Duck Donuts but the number of options for Donuts is less than the the number of places I could get Fried Chicken.

This reminds me of when IHOP temporarily changed its name to IHOB last year and got flamed for it on Twitter

If I wanted a Donut, I could choose between:
Monuts
RISE
Duck Donuts
Dunkin Donuts
Krispy Kreme
Grocery Store/Gas Station Donuts

If I wanted fried chicken, there’s:
Bojangles
Zaxby’s
Chick-Fil-A
KFC
Popeye’s
Church’s (if you don’t mind a little sketchiness)
PDQ
Supermarket/Gas Station fried chicken

And a nice addition: NONE of these restaurants close at 2 PM.
Not to mention the various soul food, and “Meat and Three” type places that happen to serve Fried Chicken on the menu OR specialty restaurants like Dame’s and Beasley’s which sell Chicken and Waffles. This is a mistake on the part of RISE’s leadership.

Personally I think Rise is terrible. Duck donuts the same. Donuts are so heavy and over done. I feel they are over priced as well I like the donuts from DD.

Got donuts at CV Rise recently, frankly I consider Dunkin to be better, but that's not saying much. Need to check Duck again, seem to remember they were pretty good. Can't eat Krispy Kreme any more, way too sweet for me. The idea the chicken / waffle thing always struck me as bizarre, retch-inducing, and an irresponsible double-whammy of unhealthiness. Some of the stuff I see people eating at Metro Diner....

Biscuitville's biscuits use 3 ingredients. Benefit? Non-greasy! You can still use your smartphone with a biscuit in the same hand.
