If one lived in Wake Forest, what would be the closest beach/ocean or large lake?
Thanks,
Fallgirl

Falls Lake would be the closest lake with a beach. Funny it goes with your user ID!

I agree Falls Lake for the lake and Wrightsville Beach for the beach. And this was a perfect time to ask because if you drive to Falls Lake now you will actually see water and not just dirt and stumps sticking up!

As others have said, Falls Lake is the closest lake. You can also head north on I-85 to Gaston and Kerr lakes, which are (IMO) nicer lakes. But those will be an hour or so from Wake Forest.
The closest beach (Wrightsville) is probably 2.5 hours away, give or take.

Jordan Lake is just southwest of Raleigh, and is worth visiting as well. It's a little over an hour from Wake Forest.
