Cococo might be an option for us. Thanks again.
That's the best! I am lucky too, my SO builds fine furniture mostly using hand tools (not couches though), so I am a little spoiled. We were in Maine last year for some woodworking thing so we stopped by to check out Moser's collection. I was a bit blown away with the level of craftsmanship. I have never been a big fan of cherry but I came back a changed person from that trip.

Yes, I am thinking about Cococo as well... I'll have to check them out after I move to NC for some essential pieces. Good luck!

I had no idea. That's good to know! Thanks.

Thanks, laxmom2. We'll definitely check them out. Their site isn't working for me at the moment, but I'll circle back.

We buy Stickley furniture as it fits our craftsman style of home. Their stuff is very well made. They do 'some' upholstered, but not a great selection. Cost is over the top so it helps to shop their 'sales'.

Thanks for the reply.

Also, the next time around, I hope to find an upholsterer who actually wants business thrown his/her way. That way, my quality piece can be "made new again", and the look can be altered if I wish (not likely, though )

Style is subjective, but do jeans and a t-shirt ever go out of style?

As for mattresses, I do have a an expensive mattress in our guest room. We did not buy it, and I probably would never have it in my home had I needed to open my wallet to buy it. We also have a Mattress Factory mattress in our room. It our second one, and we've been satisfied. We might go back.

to me buying a well made, lasting furniture goes beyond style:
- as you said it's classic, I can "dress it" up however I want. A gorgeous solid walnut dinner table will look amazing no matter how Pinterest boards/trends change.

- It's economical. I buy once and that's it. I will have it forever. If it's a forever piece, such as Eames chair I may even make money off of it. Haha. I recently saw in Denver or Boulder craigstlist someone wanting over 5K for a perfectly kept Eames chair. And, you know there is a yuppie in Boulder who would pay to get that chair... they'll probably resell it for 25K in 10 years, too. Lol

- it's environmentally friendly. a good piece will be made of solid wood. it will last. it won't fill the landfill. even if it ends up there, it's organic. it'll just perfectly biodegrade.

About mattresses, I bought a YogaBed a couple of years ago. I think it's like Needle & Tuft, Casper type of a company. It's fine. I like it. But I also prefer a firmer mattress, so it's been working fine for me. I hear some people do not like it because it's too firm for their backs.

I have a lot of EA pieces and per my designer- usually the wood pieces are made in the US but the upholstered items are not.

My wife and I checked out a furniture place in Winston Salem years back called, I believe, Stickley Audi ???! But it was obscenely expensive. Good Craftsmen style wood furniture.
