Can anyone recommend a place for sewing classes in Raleigh? A quick Google search brought me to "Pins & Needles" which sounded great until I tried to visit their site and see they are no longer in business. The other site that came up was Bernina World of Sewing, but their classes look very specific to different projects, and I'm a true beginner who wants to learn the basic skills and not just work one one specific, pre-determined DIY project.
Try a couple of quilt shops....ask some questions about basic sewing. The one in my town offers classes for quilting/sewing, other shops may as well and may have connections with someone who may offer basic classes.

I don’t know of any beginner’s sewing classes available in Raleigh. The Scrap Exchange in Durham has a beginner’s sewing class, as does JoAnn’s at their Durham location. Wish Upon a Quilt, in Raleigh, and Cary Quilting both have a beginner’s quilting class. The ladies at Wish Upon a Quilt, Cary Quilting, and Bernina World of Sewing are all wonderful! They are very helpful in giving sewing advice to newbies like me. I’m sure if you went to one of these stores, they would be happy to talk to you, and might be able to direct you to a place with a class for you (if they don’t offer one already). Good luck!
Craft Habit has beginner sewing classes. I don’t know how in depth they are, but I enjoyed the embroidery class.
