Olde Salem near Oxxford Hunt and Bishops Gate is also a great neighborhood. I have seen a lot of kids while walking the trail. You could walk to Bond Park and the YMCA is down the road. Also, the HOA is awesome! Homes in Olde Salem are about 10 years old.
These suggestions are great! I drive through Wellsley every day and noticed that the "for sale" signs are finally in bloom! I think it's a really pretty neighborhood. Another one that hasn't been mentioned is Brookstone. Both have active swim teams for the kids.
I also love the idea of Oxxford Hunt and any of those neighborhoods attached to the greenway system for easy access to Bond Park and the Y.
As for magnet schools, you'll need to hold off til the 2009-2010 lottery in February.
I would also try Haddon Hall- some of the houses back up to trees, there are lots of kids, a swim team, a pool, walking trails, and it's a short commute to RTP
While you are here drive through in Raleigh, Bedford, Falls River, Wakefield. In Wake Forest-Heritage. You didnt mention it but the size of yard you would like makes a difference.. if you want something larger you could put in your own pool. Hope that helps,
When we were looking we loved Wellsley. It has a very competitive swim team and it is one development that has not been reassigned since it went up: Davis El, Davis MS and Green Hope. All great schools and very desireable from what I hear. Lots are larger than most in that area, and tons of trees. Homes move fast there!
