As the thread asks...Any builders constructing custom ranch houses not in a retirement community? Looking for ~ 2,800 sq ft in newer communities/subdivisions.

How far out are you willing to go from the center of the Triangle?
And, are you hoping to get into a golf community?

The Preserve at Jordan Lake?
Plenty of opportunity there.

You can get custom ranchers in 12 Oaks.

Chapel Ridge.

There are many more, but location you want is key.

I play at 12 Oaks now and with all the houses being built there I’m afraid the infrastructure won’t handle the population.

Not a fan of The Preserve at Jordan Lake. Chapel Ridge could be an option. Anything out by Hillsboro?

Well, yeah.
But the OP specified a custom builder. Pulte is a production/tract builder.

I have clients under contract to build a beautiful one-level home with Homes by Dickerson. My clients are building in Croasdaile Farm in Durham but Dickerson is a local custom builder who is in several large neighborhoods in Wake, Durham, and Chatham counties. The majority of the floorplans they are building in Croasdaile are ranch style and all have master on the main level.

Solid craftsmanship and great contractors, sales agents, and design-center staff.

EDIT...I just realized how salesy/spammy the above sounded. But it's a legit recommendation I promise!

How custom is Dickerson? They seem to be building a good number of homes now. I figured they’d have to dumb it down a bit.
