I'm ready for CHANGE. The only places I've ever lived are NY and Boston. Like lots of other people...I want to slow down, to have a better and less hectic career where I am more appreciated, to own a home, to be closer to family, to be more comfortable, to meet new people, etc. etc. etc. I want to be happier. I want to start a new life. I've done a lot of research, and there are very few places I am willing to go that has all the things that I need.

Jobwise, I don't think it's impossible to find one...but not being there physically is what is making it difficult. It's virtually impossible to be able to go to an interview at the drop of a hat. You have to fly there..or drive..and arrange for a day off from your current job. Not to mention that when you are called for an interview, you have to explain to them that you don't live there even though your address claims so.....for many potential employers, that's the end of the line. It's going to take a lot of work to find a job, but I'm sure it will be worthwhile.

Although I only have a little over 2 years of working experience, I have experience in all areas of business...I work in a very small, private office with only 10 employees and I supervise all but the owner. I do the accounting, finance, operations, etc. I am versatile enough to apply for many different types of jobs...I am just having a hard time finding them.

And yes, I am looking in Raleigh/other areas outside of RTP. This is where I am finding only executive jobs that require a lot of experience that I just don't have. And the recruiters seem to have nothing to offer outside of temp jobs that pay $10 an hour. It will take time and effort, I know....but keeping myself from getting frustrated is only further frustrating me.

My boyfriend and I both have business degrees from a great school with over 2 years working experience. We also both have 1+ years of supervisory experience amidst that. It seems like all the job postings are for IT positions or extremely high level (10+ years experience) finance/marketing/operations positions. We have a Cary address on our resumes, but it doesn't seem to be helping. We must secure jobs before moving down there, but the task is proving far more difficult than expected.
Have you thought about looking into other areas outside of your normal field? I find that many employer's are quite willing to have cross over from other fields. It may not be exactly what you want in the short term, but can open up entire new fields you can use your degree in once you have specific experience within a company.

Don't overlook shipping and manufacturing companies as well. They often have the need for multi-talented individuals to full a variety of rolls and often have great possibilities for advancement once you get your foot in the door.
