Hmmm, that's Apex, but it's a little sketchy, that area. Plus if a strange man walked up to me and asked me to walk behind the convenience store with him to look at some apartments I think I'd decline. Not blaming her but situational awareness is a thing. The advice "don't go anywhere with strangers" is an oldie but a goodie.
It's practically a stone's throw from Salem St, many $700K+ neighborhoods, and lots of "kid" stuff near there. I was surprised to hear of it there and like you on how it happened. Not passing judgement, but agree this day and age it's pretty much a "no" to anyone you don't know and even some you do.
What part of this area is "sketchy" (as mentioned further upthread). If you were talking about the Circle K closer to Yamato Steak House...yeah I'd agree. But this Circle K has nothing around it.
Which leads me to my other question - Did they say this woman was from out of town? There are no apartments anywhere near there, let alone "around back". Not victim blaming in the least, just wondering if she had situational awareness. Hopefully more details come out because "hey nice to meet you, let's look at some apartments" just doesn't add up. If he forcibly took her then say so.
*Edited to add...again not victim blaming, by saying things don't add up is my commentary on the reporting of the incident not the actions of the victim.
