Default Looking for Rosa Rugosa

Does anyone know of a nursery that sells lots of roses? I'm looking for Rosa Rugosa, just a plain old shrub rose. I know I can get them online, but I'd really prefer to shop locally. I'm in SW Durham, but am willing to drive. I plan on visiting the tree nursery in Angier sometime soon. Perhaps one of the surrounding places will have roses. Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

BTW I'm hoping the deer won't eat the roses because they're so prickly. Does anybody have any deer v. rose experience?

Default Witherspoons

Witherspoons' Roses off of 15-501 at the Durham/Orange County line has two Rugosa cultivars. If you are not familiar with them, they have been there since the early 1950's.

Here is their link: Welcome to Witherspoon Rose Culture: Online Catalog, Rose Care, Installation, Advice, and Sales

Good luck trying to thwart the deer!

Default I have 125 roses...

and got almost all of them online. I have learned that the local nurseries only carry the common Weeks, etc. roses. Most are teas with some grandifloras and shrubs thrown in. Also, rugosa thorns don't always deter deer. You may still need a nice tall fence.
