Default 55 + retirement area

Hi all,

We are planning to move down to NC in about 3-4 years. We are wondering what the best 55 + retirement areas are located. There are just two of us and our dog, I like to golf and my wife likes to shop. We don't want to live in the middle of Raleigh, but want to be close enough to shopping and medical as well as within 15-30 minutes of some nice golf courses.

I plan to work at a local golf course or golf shop and we would be looking for a house in the 175K - 200K range. We also would like to know what type of short term (3-6 months) rental properties are available that have between 1000 - 1200 sq. ft. 2 bedroom places. We would put a lot of our stuff in storage until we look around and find a neigborhood to live in.

We just thought we start here to get a heads up when we visit later this year.

Any suggestions and areas to look at for retirees would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

I checked a couple of 55+ areas I knew about (including that one at Amberly) and they are out of that range.
