They’ve been cracking down hard on these knockoffs in NYC for awhile.
When I have seen tourists on flights, they say there are still places to go...just not as easy to find as they used to be.
Back in my day, you could buy a “Rolex” on the street for $25!

I wish we had a Nieman Marcus but they don't have many men's products. (I buy Clinique in the women's section.) I don't think any still sell food (desserts) like they did years ago.
Me too but Crate and Barrel plus the others you mentioned were also there. I think they serve the same consumer.

I think that while the economy is strong its strong in the middle-middle upper strata. At one time Detroit had a very strong economy too, but never was what one would consider anywhere that had a huge concentration of the very well-heeled.
This isn't Detroit in 1957, but neither is this area Silicon Valley or Westchester or LI's North shore.
I prefer my paperclips to be coated because I don't want them to rust on my book or other important papers I need to hold together.
