NFL teams and some NHL teams have been doing this for a while. PNC is just following the trend. Well, there are bullet-resistant backpacks now available for school children... sign of the times.
I don't believe this has anything to do with forcing people to buy concessions indoors. This is about reassuring the frightened and limiting liability of the arena authority and the sports teams.
I'm guessing you have some data regarding gun confiscations and perhaps brandishing at PNC or other arenas?
I offered an opinion - no data needed.
Is it not plainly obvious that in a nation with near weekly mass shootings and nearly 400 million firearms venues hosting large crowds are feeling pressure to at least give the impression that they are taking action to improve safety? It doesn't matter if it's theater or an effective policy. It's done in the name of safety and gun violence is dominating the news.

Reason: grammar
This is a consequence of living in a society which permits easy access to firearms.
No. It's a consequence of living in a society that devalues life. Blame it on video games, lack of morals, media attention to shooters, the removal of God from our culture, abortions or anything else, but it all stems from the idea that life is cheap.
Life is no longer deemed valuable, and this affects everything in our culture from food choices to these shootings.
In any event, clear bags dont bother me. I rarely go to Hurricanes games after they bumped up the price when it became "PNC". It's their business, if they want clear bags the customers can decide if they like it or not. I'll probably still go once in a blue moon.
